OLD SEED LISTS - There are still some seeds available from exchanges from years ago. These leftover seed lists are managed by Rodney Barton.
ARCHIVES - The seed exchange was begun over 40 years ago as a way to share and challenge SIGNA members. Many members have great success germinating and growing Iris seed to bloom. Labels are not forever and every year we get requests to fill in some blank that goes with a SIGNA Seed Exchange number. Each number is unique and not yet repeated. Each SIGNA seed list number begins with a 2 digit abbreviation for the year, followed by a code to designate the kind of iris* followed by a specific serial number. You can confirm the seed identification from the first two 'year' numbers and the last three 'serial' numbers. These archives will assist you in identifying lost information. Often seeds in the current year refer to past SIGNA Seed Exchange numbers where a current seed was harvested from a plant grown from an earlier seed exchange offering. Now you can trace these back to their origins. We hope that by presenting these archives, we encourage you to explore this year's seed offerings and seek out a wide range of iris you to can grow from SIGNA seed. Recent years use a two-letter code suggesting the series affiliation. |
