Iris hexagona #6 of 23

Credits: Iris hexagona, photo by P. O'Connor, obtained via the Louisiana Iris mailing list on Yahoogroups. (D. Kramb, 26-APR-05)

Comments: Wild collected in South Carolina. Growing and photographed at the Baton Rouge Botanical Gardens. "It has compact, rounded falls that I associate with I. hexagona and is a good blue color. As you can see, the stalks are rather straight, and it superficially resembles I. giganticaerulea but it is of medium height. It also blooms very late, whereas I. giganticaerulea generally is an early season bloomer here." (D. Kramb, 26-APR-05)
