ADDING A NEW SPECIES Before adding a new species, please make certain it is not an outdated synonym. If you are uncertain about that status of your new species then please don't add it. This should only be performed after the appropriate research. UPLOADING PHOTOGRAPHS Photos must be in GIF or JPG format. All other formats are incompatible with this database. Images must be smaller than 250 Kb. This is best accomplished by reducing the image size to 72 dpi (most digital cameras default to 144 dpi). There is no restriction for the dimensions, but it is wise to keep images under 710 pixels wide to ensure proper display formatting. 
THUMBNAILSUploading a thumbnail is optional. Create them using Adobe Photoshop or equivalent, to edit, crop, and reduce your main iris photo to 80 x 100 pixels. That's 80 pixels wide by 100 pixels tall. Thumbnails must be uploaded at the same time as the main photo otherwise a default one with the message 'not yet available' will be used in its place until the webmaster can create one. OOPS! Fear not! In case you've made a mistake entering some data into the database, please contact the webmaster (dkramb@badbear.com) to have him fix it. This could be something such as uploading an incorrect photo or thumbnail, etc. These mistakes are usually fixed within a day. |
