According to the SIGNA Checklist of Iris Species, I. atrofusca is the correct binomial for this species. (D. Kramb, 25-SEP-04)

The flower is brownish crimson or rose colored with a reddish purple signal. The beard is composed of yellow hairs on a white ground. (D. Kramb, 28-JAN-09)
